800 years of Tralee's history since the Norman invasion in the twelfth-century, this book charts the course of Tralee's history and transition to democracy. Authored by Gerald O'Carroll, this book meets the need for a legible but comprehensive treatment of the town's story. There are pedigrees of the leading families and a liberal distribution of portrait and scene images from the middle ages to modern times, some of which come from the archives of the ruling families of the pre-democratic age. Tralee Castle, which stood where the Pikeman statue now stands, appears in a rare watercolour never before published. At 20 euros, in paperback, the book has received excellent reviews sinces its appearance in late 2009.
